This is an exciting event for promising young singers between the ages of 23 and 32. Two separate sets of judges made up of opera performers, directors and/or educators choose a designated number of candidates to whom cash awards are given in order to help these young people continue their careers. The schedule of events is now available below.

The Competition is normally held in March each year and attendance is free to the public. The Guild is proud to provide experience, opportunity and encouragement to these young performers.

The Annual Competition is normally held in February and March each year and all of the events are free and open to the public. The Guild is proud to provide experience, opportunity, and encouragement to these performers.

February 4, 2012 – Saturday, DLOG’s Master Class for the candidates of the
Competition
Louise C. Conter Master Class on Saturday, February 4, 2012, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Competition candidates will polish their musical skills in a master class taught by Kenneth Cox, Chair of DU’s Lamont Vocal Arts Department. Attend this (free) class as it provides a rare glimpse of the rigors and discipline of opera performance.
9:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.
Each candidate will sing their first choice aria and then sing what is requested by the judges. They will only have about seven to ten minutes to perform. Fifteen finalists will be selected by the judges to continue to the finals. You may come to these events for the entire day or a part of the day and your presence is appreciated by the singers as well as the Guild. However, we ask that you do not enter or leave while a singer is performing.
The main objective of the Denver Lyric Opera Guild is the encouragement and support of Colorado’s young singers between the ages of 23 and 32.
The Competition is an exciting event for these aspiring singers, and the Guild is proud to provide experience, opportunity and support to these young performers.
